Do you have an unattractive tooth that distracts from the beauty of your smile? If so, we are happy to help you with dental crowns! Dental crowns are strong, reliable, and successful restorations that improve the health of your tooth as well as improve its appearance by changing its shape, size, color, and strength.
Dental crowns are tooth-shaped caps that cover the entire visible portion of your tooth as well as:
• Protect a weak tooth from breaking
• Hold together a cracked tooth
• Restore a tooth that has been worn down
• Support a tooth that has a large filling
• Hold a dental bridge in place
• Cover a severely discolored tooth
• Disguise a tooth that is misshapen
• Cover a dental implant
• Beautify your smile
For children, a dental crown can protect a tooth from decay as well as repair a tooth that has been completely damaged.
When saving your smile with a dental crown, please expect two trips to our office. First, your dentist will examine your smile and prepare your tooth for the crown. To prepare your tooth, your dentist will numb the tooth with a local anesthetic and file a portion of the tooth to make room for the crown. Then, your dentist will make impressions of your tooth and will send those impressions to the dental lab where your dental crown will be created. You will be given a temporary crown during this process. Once the crown is ready, you will come in for a second visit. During this appointment, your dentist will check the fit, size, and color of the crown and will make sure everything is perfect. If everything is correct, your dentist will permanently cement the crown into place.
